Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson born to British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby & Chris Watson in Paris, France. At the age of five, she moved to Oxfordshire and enrolled in an Oxfordshire-based Dragon School. Emma always had the desire to become an actor since she was aged six. She was enrolled at Stagecoach Theatre Arts in Oxford which is an acting academy with part-time courses. When she was ten, she had performed and taken the lead in various Stagecoach productions as well as school plays. The casting process began in 1999 in the production of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the movie adaptation of British writer J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was discovered through Emma's Oxford Theatre instructor. After eight auditions consistently, the producer David Heyman told Emma and other applicants Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they were cast for the roles of the three leads Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Emma's first appearance in a film was as a part of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. It was the highest-grossing film of 2001 The film broke records in its first day opening and opening weekend takings. Critics praised the film and the performances of the three leading actors of the young generation. The Daily Telegraph praised Emma for her outstanding performance. Emma's performance was nominated and later won awards for the film.
